Recruiting profile
Social media for freshmen & sophomores
Coaches will look you up. Make what they find quick to read, honest and clean.
1. Accounts to make
- X: your main recruiting account. It's where college coaches and programs are most active.
- YouTube (or Hudl): hosts your full skills and game videos. This is the link you'll put in emails.
- Instagram: optional, for short clips and following programs. Keep it as clean as your X account.
2. Handle, photo, bio
- Handle: your real name plus your grad year, e.g.
@FirstLast2029. Nothing cute. - Profile photo: a clear photo of you in uniform or a head-and-shoulders shot. No group shots or logos.
- Pin your best, most recent video.
2029 | SS/RHP | B/T: R/R | 6'1 175 [High School] ([City, ST]) | [Travel Team] 3.8 UW GPA | 92 EV · 6.8 60 · 88 FB (PG, 6/26) 📧 firstname.lastname2029@gmail.com 🎥 [YouTube/Hudl video link]
List only verified numbers: varsity, travel, Perfect Game, PBR or another verified event. Add the source and date. Never use Little League, middle school or inflated radar numbers. Use the same numbers you put in your coach emails.
3. Stats to list, by position
- Pitcher: fastball range, secondary pitches, strike %, K/BB.
- Catcher: pop time, catch-and-throw velo.
- Infield/outfield: 60-yard time, exit velo, arm strength (IF/OF velo), recent slash line.
- Two-way: list both sets.
Put your Perfect Game or PBR profile link in your bio or a pinned post when you have one.
4. Filming and posting video
- Skills video: about 3–5 minutes. Lead with your best tool, then show several reps in a row. Use a tripod, keep the camera steady and don't zoom. No music needed.
- Angles: for pitchers, film from behind the catcher and from the side. For hitters, film from the side and from behind. Show fielders' footwork and full throws.
- Label every clip with the date and its metrics (e.g. "6/14/26 · 88 FB · Stalker").
- Game clips: keep them short (10–30 seconds) and post the at-bat or play, not the whole inning.
- Post 1–3 times a week. Updates with new numbers beat volume.
5. Tagging coaches and programs
- Tag the program and your travel or HS coach on real updates (new numbers, events). Don't tag 30 schools on one post.
- Follow the programs on your target list and their coaches.
6. Keep it clean
- No drama, no arguing, no complaining about umpires or teammates, no profanity.
- Check what you like and repost. Coaches see that too.
- Delete old clutter and keep the account baseball, school and character.
7. NCAA contact rules
- You can post, tag and DM coaches anytime. Under NCAA DI baseball rules, coaches can't send you DMs or other electronic messages until Aug 1, 2027 (start of junior year for the Class of 2029). See the timeline.
- Since 2016, DI staff have been allowed to "like," "favorite" or repost content you post (Bylaw 13.10.2.8). A like isn't an offer, and it isn't a violation either.
- D2, D3, NAIA and JUCO coaches have looser rules and often reach out sooner.
